  Dear EMGLAB experts,
I am newbie in EMG decomposition and I am starting to work with the EMGLAB toolbox. I would like to know how could I access the informations which are stored in the binary Decomp files?
I would like to plot the waterfall MUAP's and the discharge patterns over the time.

  Hi Marcelo,

The next version of EMGlab, which is due out very soon, will let you see waterfall plots of the MUAPs.

In the meantime, we have posted a matlab function to do this at http://www.emglab.net/utilities/WaterfallPlot

Download both .m files and put them in your emglab directory. Then after you have decomposed a signal in EMGlab, type "plotMUAP (N)" in the matlab command window, where N is the number of the MU you want. Type "help plotMUAP" to see other optional parameters.

P.S. decomp files are .mat files. You can open them in matlab like this:
>> d = open ('filename.decomp', '-mat')

Then d.CHAN(1).slist will contain the firing times and unit numbers of all the identified MUAPs. However, decomp files do not contain the waveforms of each discharge. plotMUAP.m shows how you can extract these from the signal.

  Dear Kevin,
We are having trouble following the instructions below. Is this still the best way to create a figure that displays the change in MUAP shape over time (or maybe I have completely missed the point of the question below)?. We are following the same MU through lengthening and shortening contractions, so the shape changes considerably (but consistently). We need to produce a figure from EMGlab that shows this change over time.
